Tip # 5
Make it disposable. A trip is the perfect time to use baggies, aluminum and plastic wrap. I am not one for waste. For my daily use, I typically use glass jars and have my share of plastic containers that have been used for decades. For traveling, no. It is a challenge to worry about washing, saving and storing. Instead, I wrap things individually in plastic wrap and then put food in a large Ziploc baggie.

The cooler gets lighter as the road trip occurs. There is nothing less appetizing than opening a cooler with smelly containers. When we travel, we do bring a set of culinary tools for each individual. Eating with a real fork and a steak-knife saves frustration from breaking flimsy plastic forks into one’s food. Don’t forget a roll of paper towels and a few plastic grocery bags!
