Embracing the Mediterranean Diet is a mindshift. Learning how to Master the art of cooking and eating the Mediterranean way is the first step! There are four secrets to master the art of cooking and eating the Mediterreanean Way.

I am sure the title of this blog, “Mastering the Art of Cooking the Mediterraenean Way” is subconsciously coming from my familiarity of Julia Child. “Mastering the Art of French Cooking” is Child’s well-known and inspirational cookbook. If one is not familiar with the cookbook itself, the movie Julie and Julia that chronicles Child’s life and that of a would-be famous blogger Julie Powell may ring a bell. Powell establishes herself as a writer and home chef. She takes the time to prepare 536 recipes in one year. All of the recipes from Child’s cookbook. Yes, watching the movie did inspire me to start Olive Sunshine! Launching this blog contiues to help me learn the four secrets to master the art of cooking and eating the Mediterranean Way.

#1. Master the Art of Cooking by Finding Passion in Cooking and Eating

Professional chef Julia Child and home chef Julie Powell are inspirational examples for me. Not really because I cook in their style, but simply because of their passion for cooking and eating. They relish the time and energy it takes to cook and then enjoy what they made with others. They demonstrate passion selecting ingredients, and developing techniques to present food that looks amazing and tastes delicious. To master the art of cooking the Mediterranean Way, one must first find the value in preparing food and in eating. Instead of viewing time in the kitchen as wasted, understand it is a valuable investment of time. I am passionate about what I ingest and what I place on the table to feed those I care about. This passion is what makes it worth my time.
